Agricultural modernization: The Ivorian government is intensifying the mechanization of the banana sector

Modernisation agricole : Le gouvernement ivoirien intensifie la mécanisation de la filière banane

The Emergency Program to Support Agricultural Sectors (PURGA 2) has reached a new stage. On December 17 in Abidjan, the Ministry of Agriculture formalized its support for the dessert banana sector by delivering ten 4x4 tractors to the professional organization OBAMCI, intended for SCB.

Key points of the intervention:

Investment: 206 million FCFA for equipment (out of a total fund of 1 billion).
Objective: Increased productivity and improved working conditions.
Maintenance: A dedicated after-sales service is provided by the supplier Yitwa Agro-Industrial.

N'diaye Oumar, Executive Director of FIRCA, stressed that this act marks the closure of PURGA's activities for this sector, thus strengthening its capacity to face international competition and logistical challenges.
