Tabaski 2026 : Abidjan durcit les règles pour le commerce du bétail

With Tabaski (scheduled for the end of May) approaching, the Autonomous District of Abidjan unveiled a new regulatory plan on Thursday, April 23, 2026. In consultation with professionals in the livestock and meat sector, the authorities intend to put an end to urban disorder and secure the supply.

A single unloading point

From now on, the livestock park at the Anyama slaughterhouse is designated as the only authorized site for unloading livestock trucks.

To channel this flow, two secure corridors will be put in place:

  1. Axis 1: Northern Highway.
  2. Axis 2: Anani roundabout.

These areas will be under the joint surveillance of the National Police, the District services and representatives of the network.

The objectives of these measures

The District justifies these decisions by citing four major issues:

  1. Traffic flow: Avoiding massive traffic jams in the economic capital.
  2. Price stability: Guaranteeing a regular supply to prevent speculation.
  3. Public health: Strengthen veterinary controls in the face of the massive influx of animals.
  4. Security: Combating extortion, theft and risky behavior that is common during the holiday season.

Penalties for offenders

The District is calling on carriers and merchants to strictly adhere to these guidelines. Authorities warn that any failure to comply will result in severe penalties, including:

  1. The vehicles were immediately impounded .
  2. The formal ban on delivering livestock throughout the territory of Abidjan.
