Abidjan vibrated to the rhythm of technology. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the "Shooting Star" team from the Lycée Moderne de Korhogo won first place in the 3rd edition of the National Robotics Championship.

Organized by the DynExcAfrica association in partnership with the First Lego League , the event was held at the Alassane Ouattara Ivorian-Korean Sports, Cultural and ICT Center, located in Cocody. This year, young talents had to compete in ingenuity around the international theme "UNEARTHED" , which invited them to explore archaeology through the lens of robotics and new technologies.

The podium and the awards

The competition brought together 50 teams from across the country, mobilizing over 1,000 participants aged 10 to 16 around programming, design, and problem-solving challenges. Three schools particularly distinguished themselves:

  1. 1st Prize: The "Shooting Star" team (Modern High School of Korhogo) takes home the grand trophy, various prizes and an envelope of 10 million FCFA .
  2. 2nd Prize: The team "The Innovators" (Modern High School of Abobo) takes second place, accompanied by a check for 5 million FCFA and several awards.
  3. 3rd Prize: The team "Les Phénix" (Dominique Ouattara Girls' High School of Excellence in Sinématiali) completes the podium and receives 3 million FCFA .

Girls at the forefront of Ivorian tech

The most striking feature of this 2026 edition remains the strong female representation: 60% of the participating teams were composed exclusively of young women . This momentum was praised by Mr. Remarck Abdoulaye Patrice, Director General of the reception center, who emphasized the societal impact of women's access to science.

“When a young girl learns to code, to design, to build a robot, to defend a project, to work in a team and to speak up, it is not just a student who progresses. It is a family that is uplifted. It is a community that gains confidence. It is a nation that increases its intellectual capital.”

This commitment is shared by the mobile money company Wave Côte d'Ivoire , an official partner of the event. Its Managing Director, Katier Bamba, reaffirmed his company's commitment to democratizing access to digital technology:

“By supporting the National Robotics Championship, we hope to offer young Ivorians, and particularly young girls, the opportunity to develop their creativity, their innovative spirit, and their confidence in technology careers. Our ambition is to contribute to building the Ivorian digital ecosystem of tomorrow.”

With the success of this third edition, the National Robotics Championship has definitively established itself as an essential educational and technological event in Ivory Coast, brilliantly preparing young people for the challenges of tomorrow.
