Tout savoir sur le calcul de la moyenne annuelle en Côte d’Ivoire
The Ivorian education system, overseen by the Ministry of National Education, is based on a rigorous assessment called the Annual General Average (AGA) . Whether in primary or secondary school, a student's success depends on precise weighting rules and passing thresholds.
Generally, the MGA is obtained by calculating the arithmetic mean of the year's grades:
$$MGA = \frac{Average T1 + Average T2 + Average T3}{3}$$
The results are systematically rounded to two decimal places.
The system is simplified, but it values basic materials.
Here, each discipline has a specific weight which strongly influences the final result.
For students at the end of lower secondary school, progression to upper secondary school does not depend solely on their grades for the year. A Placement Average is calculated, combining continuous assessment and the national exam:
$$MO = \frac{MGA + \text{BEPC Note}}{2}$$
A minimum score of 10/20 on this MO is required to be directed to general high school.
The class council remains the final judge, but the following points serve as performance indicators:
Advice for parents: To avoid calculation errors, the Ministry offers official digital tools via the MEN-DOB platform or the DREN services. These free calculators allow you to track the progress of results in real time.
