Yopougon : L'École des Sourds s'agrandit pour un avenir plus inclusif

The educational landscape of Yopougon took a major step forward this Friday , April 24, 2026. The Ivorian School for the Deaf officially received a new building, marking a decisive turning point for the inclusion of children with disabilities in Ivory Coast.

A partnership in the service of solidarity

This project is the result of an exemplary synergy between the public and private sectors. Led by the Ivorian Fashion Designers Collective in collaboration with the Petroci Foundation , this initiative demonstrates that fashion can shine far beyond the catwalk.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Adama Kamara , Minister of Employment, Social Protection and Vocational Training, who came to commend this citizen mobilization.

Infrastructure for autonomy

The new building offers more than just walls; it provides a complete lifestyle project. The facilities include:

  1. Two modern and fully equipped classrooms .
  2. An administrative office for educational supervision.
  3. Technical learning centers : sewing, shoemaking and pastry making.

The objective is clear: to provide students with the necessary tools to achieve financial independence and facilitate their integration into the world of work.

Fashion at the bedside of social issues

The commitment of figures such as Virginie Aya Touré and Nadia Druide has been particularly highlighted. By investing in this cause, Ivorian creators are demonstrating their willingness to take concrete action on the country's social realities.

"It is crucial to multiply these initiatives to guarantee equal opportunities for all," stressed Minister Adama Kamara, recalling that this action aligns perfectly with the vision of a "united Ivory Coast" advocated by President Alassane Ouattara.

A message of hope

Beyond the concrete and the equipment, this inauguration sends a powerful message to families and learners: disability is not a life sentence. It is a promise of dignity and a further step towards a nation where every child, regardless of their differences, has a place in building the future.
