Yopougon : Adama Bictogo lance l’offensive contre l’insalubrité et le désordre urbain
The first municipal council meeting of 2026 for the municipality of Yopougon was held on Friday, February 13th, in the main hall of the town hall, under the chairmanship of Deputy-Mayor Adama Bictogo. This session was marked by the announcement of several major measures aimed at sustainably transforming the living environment of the population.
During the discussions, the assembly was informed of two important meetings to be held on February 16th and 25th, dedicated to the imminent launch of roadworks in several neighborhoods. An update on the progress of the projects undertaken since January by the organizations selected by the city was also presented.
In his commitment to effectively combat unsanitary conditions, the Deputy-Mayor announced the creation of a sanitation brigade. In the same vein, a large-scale operation to clear illegally occupied areas will begin the following Monday throughout the municipality. Village and neighborhood leaders, as well as market women, have been urged to intensify awareness campaigns to encourage the removal of those occupying sites illegally.
This operation will pave the way for the beautification of the main boulevards and is part of the municipal strategy for the modernization and sanitation of Yopougon. It marks a new step in the municipality's stated ambition to make the country's largest commune a more attractive and better-organized urban center.
