Affaire Assalé Tiémoko : Ce qu'il faut retenir de son audition à la Préfecture de Police
The Ivorian political landscape is once again in turmoil. On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Assalé Tiémoko Antoine , mayor of Tiassalé and president of the Today and Tomorrow, Ivory Coast (ADCI) movement, went to the Abidjan police headquarters following a summons from the Public Prosecutor.
Assisted by his legal counsel, the elected official was questioned by the General Investigations Department. This hearing was conducted under Article 90 of the Code of Criminal Procedure . At this stage, four major charges have been brought against him:
Through its executive secretary, Roger Youan, the national office of the ADCI reacted promptly from Yamoussoukro. The movement emphasized two key points:
"We denounce any attempt to politically manipulate the justice system and call on our activists to remain calm and mobilize." — Excerpt from the ADCI press release.
This procedure comes as Ivory Coast is still healing the wounds of tensions arising from the October 2025 elections. The hearing of the mayor of Tiassalé adds to a series of arrests targeting figures from the opposition and civil society, leading some observers to fear a hardening of the socio-political climate as the next deadlines approach.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and public opinion remains attentive to the prosecutor's next decisions.
