L’eau potable gagne du terrain dans les zones rurales
The winds of change are blowing through the Ivorian countryside. Long plagued by supply challenges, rural areas are now benefiting from an unprecedented acceleration of public investment. Access to drinking water is no longer a distant luxury, but a daily reality for thousands of households.
The impact of this policy is first and foremost measured by the smiles on the users' faces. In Fofanafla , in the Marahoué region, Diane Kouakou makes no secret of her relief:
"Household chores have become easier since we got a hand-operated pump in the village."
The same situation exists in Yaokro-Pé (Haut-Sassandra), where Estelle N'Dri, a shopkeeper, remembers when the only option was the unsanitary water from rivers and low-lying areas. Today, the proximity of water sources drastically reduces the arduousness of these tasks, while also improving the health of women and children.
The infrastructure assessment, supported by the Government's Social Programme (PSGouv) , shows concrete results between 2011 and 2025:
These advances demonstrate the Ivorian government's commitment to ending the isolation of rural populations. By transforming water management into a driver of social development, the government reaffirms its ambition: to guarantee every citizen, wherever they are in the country, a sustainable, clean, and accessible water resource.
