A tragedy of rare violence occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the Château neighborhood of Adzopé , leaving one person dead and plunging residents into shock. A baby just over a month old tragically lost its life following an attack at the family home.

According to consistent reports from the Civil Protection Center of the Mé region and security services, the incident occurred in the morning. Alerted, civilian firefighters quickly responded to a rescue mission.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered two victims: the infant, who died at the scene, and a 31-year-old man, seriously injured. The latter is considered the suspected perpetrator. According to initial findings of the investigation, the man allegedly burst into the home armed with a machete. The child's mother, panicked, managed to take refuge in the shower before being rescued by neighbors.
