A large-scale road safety operation was conducted on Sunday, December 28, 2025, by the National Gendarmerie's Road Safety Unit on several major roads across the country. This action is part of efforts to strengthen road safety and prevent accidents related to the poor condition of transport vehicles.

The checks focused particularly on the Daloa–Man , Abidjan–San Pedro , Abidjan–Bondoukou , Abidjan–Noé, and Korhogo–Boundiali routes, strategic corridors used daily by numerous heavy goods vehicles. On these roads, several freight trucks were stopped and immediately impounded by law enforcement.

The cause of these immobilizations was deemed particularly serious: excessively worn tires , sometimes close to bursting. Faced with the imminent danger these vehicles posed to their drivers and other road users, the police rigorously applied the measures stipulated by the regulations.

The affected trucks will remain impounded until the defective tires are fully replaced , in addition to the payment of the fixed fines stipulated by law. This is a firm decision aimed at preventing the return to service of potentially deadly vehicles.
