Ghanaian police brought an end last Wednesday to a case that had widely circulated on social media and sparked concern and ridicule among the public. Ebo Noah , a self-proclaimed preacher in his thirties, was arrested after publicly announcing the end of the world due to a global flood predicted for December 25, 2025 .

Despite Christmas Day passing without any catastrophe, the man did not back down from his claims. In a new video posted online, he asserted that the end of the world had been "delayed" thanks to periods of fasting and prayer, explaining that God had granted him a reprieve to prepare more arks , thus reigniting the controversy.

However, police investigations quickly uncovered this elaborate scheme. According to authorities, the boat Ebo Noah presented on social media did not belong to him . It was actually a small boat belonging to someone else , which he had visited to take a photo of, before digitally altering it to make it appear as a giant vessel . Therefore, no boat was built by the suspect.

When questioned by investigators, Ebo Noah also stated that he held a degree from Accra Polytechnic , now Accra Technical University, where he had pursued higher education in purchasing and supply chain management . He also reportedly admitted that his posts were simply content creation for social media .

The case, brought before the Court of Appeal in Adentan , southeastern Ghana, was adjourned. The court ordered his pretrial detention for two weeks , as well as a psychiatric evaluation at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital in the Greater Accra region, pending his next court appearance.

Ebo Noah is being prosecuted for deceptive communication , disseminating false information , and intentionally misleading the public —offenses deemed likely to incite fear and panic among the population. This case reignites the debate on the responsibility of content creators and the impact of false prophecies in the age of social media.
