Contrasting Situation in Haut-Sassandra Following the 2025 Presidential Election

Situation Contrastée dans le Haut-Sassandra à l'issue du scrutin présidentiel 2025

The closure of polling stations this Saturday revealed a heterogeneous situation in the department of Issia, within the Haut-Sassandra region.

While calm remains precarious in the commune of Issia despite crowd movements observed in the morning, the sub-prefecture of Saioua is facing strong tension between activists from the two main political camps.

Elsewhere, the situation is more diverse:

Nahio has seen a return to calm after violent clashes which left several people injured by gunfire, who were taken care of by the local clinic.
Namane, Boguédia and Tapéguia did not report any major incidents , as the poll took place in a stable atmosphere (RAS).
The sub-prefecture of Iboguhé is also generally calm.

Finally, the turnout at the polls was uneven: some polling stations recorded low participation , while rural areas, in particular, saw a strong turnout of voters.
