The case had deeply shocked the residents of Yopougon. A year after the brutal death of young Aïcha Koné following a violent altercation, the main suspect, known by the nickname "Maan", was finally arrested in the north of the country before being transferred to Abidjan to answer for his actions.

The incident dates back to March 5, 2025 , in the Bonikro Pétro-Ivoire neighborhood. Around 6:00 PM, an argument broke out between two young women known in the area: Aïcha Koné and a woman known as SA, also known as "Maan." According to initial witness statements, tensions quickly escalated between the two women. The exchange became heated, and the confrontation degenerated into a fight.

During the altercation, "Maan" allegedly struck Aïcha Koné violently. A few minutes later, the young woman collapsed. Despite the shock and commotion that swept through the neighborhood, the victim never got up. Alerted, the police arrived at the scene, but the suspect had already fled.

Thus began a long manhunt led by investigators. For several months, the search continued without success. Information about the suspect's whereabouts trickled in: he regularly changed his hiding place and disappeared several times, complicating the investigators' work.

The turning point in the case recently occurred in the city of Odienné. The suspect was arrested by local police in connection with another case, this time involving a robbery committed by several individuals. This information quickly reached the services handling the murder investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Department immediately coordinated the operation with several search and intervention units, including those in Odienné, Korhogo, Bouaké, and Yamoussoukro. The suspect was then apprehended and transferred to Abidjan to be questioned by investigators from the Northern Search and Intervention Brigade.

When questioned by investigators, the arrested individual reportedly confessed to the crime during initial interrogations. According to his statements, the altercation stemmed from a dispute between Aïcha Koné and his girlfriend, whom he claimed to have tried to defend after an incident of disrespect. The argument then escalated into tragedy.

After the incident, the girlfriend mentioned in the case also reportedly left the scene and fled.



A year after the tragic death of Aïcha Koné, the arrest of the main suspect marks a significant turning point in the case. "Maan" is expected to appear before the competent courts in the coming days to answer the charges against him.
