Death of Sam Etiassé: The former Prefect of Abidjan and leader of Ivorian football has passed away.

The Ivorian football community and the African People's Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI) are in mourning. Sam Etiassé , a prominent figure in the country's administrative, sporting, and political life, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

The news of his death was made public by the president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Yacine Idriss Diallo , via a statement released the same day. Sam Etiassé passed away at the age of 70 .

A Career in Service to the Nation and Sport

Recognized for his commitment, Sam Etiassé has made his mark in several areas through his actions:

Public Administration: He was notably the former Prefect of Abidjan , a key position in the Ivorian economic capital.
Ivorian Football: He actively served the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) as former Executive Director . Previously, he held the position of Special Advisor in charge of reforms to the former FIF president, the late Augustin Sidi Diallo.
Politics: On the political scene, he was an important figure within the PPA-CI (Party of African Peoples–Ivory Coast), the party of former President Laurent Gbagbo, where he held the position of Vice-President .

Ivory Coast has thus lost a man who dedicated his life to administration, national football reforms and politics.
