30 ans de prison pour l'ex-président de la Cour de cassation en Tunisie dans une affaire de corruption

Dramatic turn of events in Tunisia: Taïeb Rached, former first president of the Court of Cassation, has been heavily sentenced to thirty (30) years in prison.

The verdict was handed down this Tuesday, October 28, 2025, by the specialized criminal chamber for financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance. This decision is part of a major corruption case involving several prominent figures in the country, including officials and businesspeople.

The former president of this high court of the Tunisian judicial system is not the only one to be sanctioned. In the same case, two businessmen were sentenced to 27 and 30 years in prison, respectively. Furthermore, a dismissed magistrate, also implicated, received a 20-year prison sentence.

According to information relayed by local media, including Mosaïque FM, all four defendants had been referred to the criminal chamber by the specialized indictment chamber on serious charges, including "criminal association, money laundering, corruption, forgery, possession and use of forged documents".
