Laval, Quebec – A heartbreaking tragedy struck the Champfleury district of Laval, where a 13-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a school bus, not far from her home, late in the day.

The tragic accident was reported to authorities around 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue de la Volière and Boulevard des Rossignols, as the bus was returning from school.

According to Laval police, the victim had just gotten out of the vehicle when she was struck, and was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Initial indications suggest she died near her home. An investigation into the circumstances is underway.

The main theory being examined by investigators is that the collision may have occurred as the bus was making a turn , passing over the young victim. The driver, who was taken to the hospital for shock, as well as witnesses to the event, will be interviewed by police to clarify the exact circumstances.
