The facts

The tragedy occurred last Monday at Landstuhl station, near Kaiserslautern. During a routine ticket check, the employee noticed a 26-year-old passenger traveling without a valid ticket. While attempting to remove the offender, the railway worker was struck repeatedly in the head . Despite receiving medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.

Reactions and consequences

Justice: The alleged assailant was arrested immediately after the incident. The prosecutor's office confirmed his placement in pretrial detention .
