The Stade Rennais FC training center is currently the target of a large-scale scam. Since the beginning of March 2026, malicious individuals have been exploiting the prestige of the Breton academy to extort money from unsuspecting families.

The modus operandi: the illusion of the professional contract

Scammers are heavily investing in social media ( Snapchat and TikTok ) to target teenagers aged 11 to 16. Posing as official SRFC recruiters, they offer "exclusive" training camps at the Piverdière training center.

The trap is closed via a request for funds:

1. Fees charged: between €200 and €500 .
2. Reasons given: registration fees, accommodation or logistics.
3. Result: Several families showed up physically at the training center, (fictitious) summons in hand, only to discover that they had been swindled.

Crucial reminder from the club: Stade Rennais never asks for money to organize a trial or a talent identification camp.

Legal response and increased vigilance

Faced with the scale of the phenomenon, the club reacted immediately to protect its image and its future talents:

1. Legal action: A complaint was filed on March 9. The public prosecutor in Rennes referred the matter to the judicial police, with an investigation officially opened on March 10.
2. Criminal investigation: Investigators are focusing on the possibility of organized networks operating potentially from abroad (Africa or Eastern Europe).

A shadowy business exploiting training

While the club is fighting for a European spot in Ligue 1, this affair highlights the vulnerability of young players to "digital vultures." By using the names of prestigious former players like Dembélé or Camavinga , the fraudsters are selling a false promise.

The message is clear for all parents of young "stars": the route to Piverdière is free and passes only through the club's official circuits.
