Hong Kong : Un incendie géant ravage plusieurs immeubles et fait au moins 13 morts
Hong Kong was struck on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, by one of the deadliest fires in recent years. An exceptionally intense blaze ravaged several buildings in the Wang Fuk Court residential complex in the Tai Po district, killing at least 13 people , including a firefighter who was on the scene.
The fire broke out in a building undergoing renovation, covered in bamboo scaffolding and protective netting. These highly flammable materials allowed the flames to spread rapidly from one tower to another, turning the complex into a veritable death trap for residents.
More than 120 fire trucks and numerous ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene to try to control the blaze and rescue residents.
The preliminary count reports 13 dead and numerous injured, some seriously. More than 700 people have been evacuated and temporarily housed in emergency shelters.
Witnesses report seeing residents trapped by the smoke, others desperately trying to escape via the stairs.
The Tai Po fire has left behind grieving families, injured people, hundreds of victims and a shocked population.
Hong Kong is now questioning the exact causes of the disaster, but above all the measures needed to strengthen the security of the city's overcrowded residences.
