Lucas Philippe, the Frenchman, elected new President of Interpol

Lucas Philippe, le Français, Élu Nouveau Président d'Interpol

The International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol , has a new president.

On Thursday, November 27, 2025 , during its 93rd General Assembly held in Marrakech, Morocco , the intergovernmental organization elected Frenchman Lucas Philippe to lead it.

Former Inspector General of the French police and current advisor for European and international affairs to the Director General of the National Police (DGPN), Mr. Philippe will take the reins of Interpol for a four-year term.

The Voting Results

The election took place by vote in which Lucas Philippe, 53, was elected with an absolute majority :

  1. Lucas Philippe (France): 84 votes (i.e. 51.2% of the votes cast).
  2. Mustafa Serkan Sabanca (Turkey): 60 votes (or 36.6% of the votes).
  3. Anne-Marie Nainda (Namibia): 12 votes (or 7.3% ).
  4. Demelash Gebremicheal Wewdeyes (Ethiopia): 8 votes (i.e. 4.9% ).

A Successor and Clear Objectives

Lucas Philippe succeeds Emirati Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi as president of Interpol.

During his campaign, the new president had clearly outlined his priorities. He had indicated that his main objective would be to "consolidate the role of the organization as a global benchmark for collective security, not only in the face of major crises, but, above all, as a daily and concrete support for member countries" .
