Un Espagnol sur Quatre Envisage un Conflit Armé avec le Maroc, la Russie Perçue comme l'Adversaire Principal
A recent study conducted by the Spanish Centre for Sociological Studies (CIS) highlights major concerns within Spanish public opinion regarding the possibility of a future military conflict.
The survey, conducted by telephone with 2,000 people between November 3 and 11, reveals that nearly two-thirds of Spaniards ( 66.2% ) believe it is possible that their country could be involved in a future war.
When respondents were asked to identify the most likely adversary in such a scenario, Russia came out on top by a wide margin, chosen by 57% of those who foresee a conflict. Morocco followed, mentioned by 42.2% of respondents.
The other potential adversaries mentioned are:
Note: only a tiny fraction of respondents ( 2.1% ) fear an internal civil war.
Although Russia is considered the main adversary in the event of a real war, another study confirms the persistent distrust towards the Sharifian kingdom.
The Elcano Royal Institute barometer, conducted from May to June 2025, indicates that Morocco remains the country perceived as the highest potential threat by Spaniards, with 55% of respondents expressing this concern, compared to 36% for Russia.
This perception is reflected in the level of sympathy accorded to Morocco, which only reaches a low score of 4.6 out of 10 , placing it behind nations like Italy, Ukraine and Palestine.
Finally, the study highlights a persistent national and European concern: irregular migration . This issue remains a priority for Spaniards, even surpassing the war in Ukraine and poverty in terms of their worries.
