Urgence au Port de Québec : la PDG réclame 380 M$ après l’effondrement d’un quai
The collapse of a section of wharf 25 on Sunday prompted Olga Farman, CEO of the Port of Quebec, to issue a heartfelt plea. Although the affected 60-meter section was already closed to operations, the incident weakens the surrounding structures and highlights the advanced age of the facilities.
Ms. Farman is demanding immediate and unconditional $380 million in funding over five years from the federal government to repair the aging wharves. "The time for patching is over; now is the time for rebuilding," she insisted, noting that some of the structures date back to 1909. For his part, Federal Minister Joel Lightbound maintains that he is taking the situation seriously, and that an emergency rock revetment operation is scheduled to begin this Friday to stabilize the area.
