USA/Texas : Un juge ordonne la libération de Liam, 5 ans, et de son père
A federal judge ruled Saturday that the five-year-old child and his father, currently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Texas, must be released. The order sets a deadline of the following Tuesday for their release, although the review of their immigration case continues in court.
The case began more than a week ago in Minneapolis, where Liam Conejos Ramos and his father were arrested. They were then transferred to a family detention center in South Texas, more than 2,000 km from their starting point.
The mobilization around this case was amplified by a photo that went viral: it shows an ICE agent placing his hand on the backpack of young Liam, whose face clearly reflects his fear. This photo became a symbol of the growing outrage over the intervention methods of US immigration authorities.
