A crime of unprecedented violence has shaken the sub-prefecture of Korhogo. On Tuesday, May 23, 2026, the Anti-Crime Police (PAC) arrested S. Nambega. This young farmer is accused of having ambushed and killed Koné Amidou, a cashew nut buyer from Kapélé, before burning and burying his body in his field in Kagnenin (near Katoumoro).

When questioned by investigators, the suspect confessed fully. A look back at the meticulously planned murder.

The motive: A rape accusation as the trigger.

During the reconstruction of events on Sunday, May 31, 2026, S. Nambega revealed his motives. Driven by a deep desire for revenge, he accused the victim of publicly slandering him by portraying him as a rapist who preyed on those using agricultural tracks. To clear his name, the farmer planned a cold and methodical execution.

The trap: A chemical poison and a fake stockpile of cashew nuts

To carry out his plan, the suspect obtained "caba" in Korhogo, a chemical normally used to accelerate the ripening of fruit, which he filled into a syringe.

On the day of the tragedy, he lured Koné Amidou in two stages:

  1. Building trust: He first sells her a small quantity of cashew nuts for 8,000 FCFA.
  2. The bait: He makes her believe that a large stock of 100 kg is waiting for her in the heart of his plantation in Kagnenin.

Once isolated in the field, S. Nambega injected the chemical into the buyer. Overcome with dizziness, the victim collapsed from his motorcycle, unable to call for help. The farmer then took advantage of the situation to fatally stab him several times with a machete.

Concealing evidence and stealing the motorcycle

To cover his tracks, the alleged murderer dragged the buyer's body into an old charcoal pit on the plantation. He set it on fire before burying the charred remains.

S. Nambega then stole the victim's motorcycle and drove it to Korhogo, where he modified the exhaust to prevent it from being recognized.

Overwhelming physical evidence

Despite his initial denials, the suspect was caught out by the PAC investigation. A search of his home uncovered irrefutable evidence: the victim's money transfer cards (Orange Money, Wave).

Legal status: Faced with this evidence, the suspect confessed and led the police to the burial site. He is currently in the custody of the Ivorian justice system.

This tragedy plunged the villages of Kapélé, Kagnenin and Katoumoro into shock and mourning, cruelly reminding them of the importance of relying on the authorities rather than taking justice into one's own hands.
