Lutte contre l'impunité : 5 ans de prison ferme pour deux agents racketteurs à Abidjan
The Ivorian military justice system has dealt a major blow in its campaign to clean up the defense and security forces. The Abidjan Military Tribunal (TMA) handed down an exemplary sentence against two non-commissioned officers, found guilty of extortion.
The incident dates back to November 26, 2025. Deviating from their official duties, agents BKS and BS set up an illegal roadblock at the Renault intersection in Adjamé. Their target: a tricycle driver, from whom they extorted 1,000 FCFA after an unjustified wait.
What they didn't know was that they were under surveillance. Alerted by repeated complaints, the Military Tribunal had deployed a system of hidden cameras . The irrefutable video evidence swept aside the defendants' lines of defense, who attempted to deny the facts or plead ignorance in court.
Given the strength of the case, the court delivered a verdict aimed at discouraging any recurrence of such behavior within the troops:
Note: This conviction comes just one week after that of a gendarme for similar reasons, confirming the zero tolerance advocated by the military judicial authorities.
This court ruling serves as a solemn warning. The objective is clear: to restore trust between citizens and law enforcement by eradicating the extortion practices that tarnish the institution's image. Integrity is no longer optional, but an absolute requirement for every officer on duty.
