L’Ambassadeur d’Israël en visite d'immersion à l’AIP

The headquarters of the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP) welcomed His Excellency Simon-Clément Seroussi on Friday, May 8, 2026. This visit by the Israeli ambassador aimed to familiarize himself with the workings of the institution and to explore new avenues for media cooperation.

A territorial network and digital modernization

Welcomed by the Director General of AIP, Fausséni Dembélé , the diplomat was able to appreciate the agency's scope. With 17 regional offices and a dense network of correspondents, AIP has established itself as the cornerstone of local news in Côte d'Ivoire.

Beyond the traditional news report, Mr. Dembélé highlighted the agency's digital transformation:

  1. Production of multimedia content (photos and videos).
  2. Broadcasting of real-time news flashes .
  3. Documentary production and active web presence.

He also highlighted the international reach of the institution through FAAPA (Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies), of which Ivory Coast holds the vice-presidency.

The fight against disinformation is at the heart of the discussions

In response to the proliferation of fake news on social media, Ambassador Seroussi praised the crucial role of the AIP as an ethical bulwark.

"Your role is essential. In a world saturated with disinformation, organizations capable of verifying facts are crucial," the diplomat stressed, comparing the AIP model to that of AFP.

Towards a strengthening of bilateral cooperation

This meeting is part of a historical rapprochement initiated during the presidency of Félix Houphouët-Boigny. His Excellency Simon-Clément Seroussi reiterated his commitment to boosting exchanges in several key sectors:

  1. Technology and Agriculture
  2. Trade and Development
  3. Media training (including through the organization of press trips to Israel).

In conclusion, the Director General of AIP reaffirmed the availability of its services to support these initiatives, recalling that credibility remains the primary strength of national press agencies.

Contextual note: Ambassador Simon-Clément Seroussi had officially presented his credentials to President Alassane Ouattara on September 16, marking the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ivory Coast.
