On May 16, 2026, the Jeune Viateur hostel in Bouaké hosted a crucial training workshop for the National Coordination of Higher Education Teachers and Researchers (CNEC). The objective? To strengthen the skills of the local office members in order to boost their future union activities.

Now better equipped, the representatives of the Bouaké section are ready to defend the working conditions and remuneration of their members with greater impact.

A strategic return for the new Secretary General

This event also served as the setting for the official presentation of Mamadou Bamba , who was appointed head of the local branch two months ago. For his first major initiative, the new general secretary focused on capacity building around a central theme: "Leadership, organizational management and the legal framework of union activity in higher education in Côte d'Ivoire" .

Mamadou Bamba took the opportunity to invite his colleagues to fully assimilate the tools provided:

"A well-trained trade unionist is a force for positive change for their members and for society in general."

Support from national authorities

The initiative was widely praised by the major figures of Ivorian trade unionism present for the occasion:

  1. Sylvère Aubin Diescieu Kazon (Teacher-researcher at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University and sponsor of the workshop) : He congratulated Mamadou Bamba on his leadership, recalling that embodying the role of trade unionist requires perfect mastery of the internal organization and a managerial posture.
  2. Théodore Zadi Gnagna (President of the National Platform and special guest) : He strongly emphasized the nobility of union activism, stressing that unionism is a "true profession." According to him, this field should be seen neither as a refuge nor as a space for systematic confrontation with the State, but as a responsible exercise requiring solid skills.
