Côte d’Ivoire : Michel Gbagbo renonce à se présenter aux législatives de décembre 2025
After several days of speculation, Michel Gbagbo , outgoing MP and son of former President Laurent Gbagbo, officially announced that he will not be a candidate in the legislative elections scheduled for December 2025.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, putting an end to the numerous rumors circulating on social media about his candidacy in Yopougon, the municipality where he had been elected in the previous election.
Michel Gbagbo indicated that his decision was motivated by personal and political reasons , without providing further details. He thanked his constituents for the trust they placed in him throughout his term, affirming his continued commitment to the political struggle led by the Party of African Peoples of Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI) .
