Élection présidentielle/ Après la marche interdite du Front Commun: Gbagbo convoque une réunion du Conseil Stratégique et Politique du PPA-CI

The president of the African Peoples' Party-Côte d'Ivoire (PPA-CI), former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo, has called a meeting of his party's Strategic and Political Council (CSP) scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his office in Cocody, east of Abidjan.

This meeting is extended to the presidents of the party's bodies, reports a PPA-CI press release consulted by Abidjan.net.

This meeting comes just days after the banned march of the PDCI-PPA-CI Common Front, which took place last Saturday and resulted in the arrest of more than 230 protesters.

It also comes ten days before the presidential election on October 25, where Mr. Gbagbo and his Common Front ally, Tidjane Thiam, were not selected by the constitutional judge to stand as candidates in this election.

Following its banned march last Saturday, the Common Front announced demonstrations "every day" to demand the participation of its two leaders in the upcoming presidential election.

The presidential election campaign is underway across the country.

Five candidates are in the running for this presidential election.

These are Alassane Ouattara (RHDP), Simone Ehivet Gbagbo's wife (MGC), Jean-Louis Billon (CODE), Henriette Lagou (GP-PAIX) and Ahoua Don Mello (Independent).
