Journée de la Paix : le message de Tidjane Thiam
On the occasion of the National Day of Peace , the President of the PDCI-RDA , Tidjane Thiam , addressed a strong message to all Ivorians, recalling the importance of dialogue, tolerance and non-violence in the political and social life of the country.
In his speech, Mr. Thiam stressed that peace has always been a central value for Ivory Coast , initiated by the Father of the Nation, the late President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, and continued by his successor, President Henri Konan Bédié, who instituted November 15 as National Peace Day .
“We can do politics in our country without resorting to violence. Even if we do not always share the same ideas or opinions, these differences make us adversaries, never enemies, because we remain children of the same Ivory Coast,” said Tidjane Thiam.
The president of the PDCI-RDA invited all Ivorians, without distinction of party, ethnicity or religion , to resolutely adopt the culture of peace and dialogue , these precious legacies left by the founding fathers of the nation.
In conclusion, Tidjane Thiam expressed his hope that this day would be an opportunity for everyone to strengthen social cohesion and to build together a peaceful and prosperous Ivory Coast .
