Laurent Gbagbo : « Cette crise entre l’AES et la Côte d’Ivoire est ridicule »
It's well known. Relations between Côte d'Ivoire and the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (ESA) are not good. The Burkinabe government specifically accuses its neighbor of serving as a "rear base for an organization seeking to destabilize it."
Last July, a Malian MP and member of the National Transitional Council (NTC) was arrested at Abidjan airport "for insulting the Ivorian head of state," Alassane Ouattara. He is currently being held at the city's House of Arrest and Correction.

For former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo, "this crisis between the AES and Côte d'Ivoire is ridiculous." "It's childishness on the part of the Ivorian government," asserts the Gagnoa native, convinced that his successor is leading "a fight" that is not his own.
"The AES countries have taken tough and clear positions against France and therefore, President Ouattara is taking a stance to defend France," believes Laurent Gbagbo, who is keen to point out that his country "cannot live without being in good relations with Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger."
