Le PPA-CI fustige un « dol politique »

During its 42nd weekly forum this Thursday in Abidjan, the African People's Party-Ivory Coast (PPA-CI) delivered a scathing indictment of the current administration. Laurent Gbagbo's party accuses the government of engaging in a form of "fraud"—a legal term referring to a deceptive maneuver—to conceal the shortcomings of its governance.

A fundamental criticism: "Manipulation" as a management method

Justin Katinan Koné, spokesperson for the Strategic and Political Council, denounced what he called institutionalized lies . According to the opposition, the government is using the concealment of information as a systematic governance tool to maintain the illusion of social and economic stability.

Electricity: The paradox of load shedding

The PPA-CI highlighted the energy crisis that has been affecting the country since last February. According to the party:

  1. The observation: The recurring outages are not simply technical or climatic incidents.
  2. The cause: Structural saturation and a lack of investment in a network that has become outdated.
  3. The inconsistency: The opposition considers it unacceptable that the country continues to export its electricity while Ivorian households suffer daily rationing.

Cocoa: Management deemed detrimental to farmers

The coffee and cocoa sector, the lifeblood of the national economy, is also at the heart of the grievances. The PPA-CI denounces:

  1. Price instability: After a record price of 1,500 FCFA (or 2,800 FCFA according to campaign announcements), the return to 1,200 FCFA for the small campaign is perceived as a brutal regression.
  2. Injustice towards producers: The party criticizes the attempt to apply this reduced tariff to old stocks, directly penalizing farmers' incomes.
The PPA-CI proposal: The opposition advocates a real liberalization of the sector and the introduction of a solidarity tax on finished chocolate , in order to guarantee fairer and more sustainable remuneration for cocoa farmers.
