Le PPA-CI fustige un « dol politique »
During its 42nd weekly forum this Thursday in Abidjan, the African People's Party-Ivory Coast (PPA-CI) delivered a scathing indictment of the current administration. Laurent Gbagbo's party accuses the government of engaging in a form of "fraud"—a legal term referring to a deceptive maneuver—to conceal the shortcomings of its governance.
Justin Katinan Koné, spokesperson for the Strategic and Political Council, denounced what he called institutionalized lies . According to the opposition, the government is using the concealment of information as a systematic governance tool to maintain the illusion of social and economic stability.
The PPA-CI highlighted the energy crisis that has been affecting the country since last February. According to the party:
The coffee and cocoa sector, the lifeblood of the national economy, is also at the heart of the grievances. The PPA-CI denounces:
The PPA-CI proposal: The opposition advocates a real liberalization of the sector and the introduction of a solidarity tax on finished chocolate , in order to guarantee fairer and more sustainable remuneration for cocoa farmers.
