Le WANEP-Côte d’Ivoire Exhorte à l'Apaisement et au Dialogue Suite aux Manifestations du 11 Octobre
The West African Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP-Côte d'Ivoire) has responded to the unrest that rocked several regions of the country on October 11, 2025. In a statement released on October 15, the organization, a pillar of conflict prevention, firmly called for restraint, responsibility, and the opening of a sincere dialogue between all parties involved.
WANEP expressed its deep concern about these episodes of tension, stressing that they represent a direct threat to social cohesion and national stability, especially during the election campaign period.
The network's appeal was primarily addressed to the political, social, and community spheres, urging them to immediately prioritize constructive dialogue as the only legitimate way to resolve disputes. At the same time, WANEP called on the government to maintain a transparent and inclusive space for exchange, a fundamental element in strengthening mutual trust.
The statement also called on law enforcement agencies, encouraging them to maintain their mission while scrupulously respecting human rights. Civil society, for its part, was called upon to maintain strict neutrality so as not to become a vehicle for partisan messages.
A specific message was delivered to Ivorian youth, a key figure, inviting them to disassociate themselves from all forms of violence and to assert themselves as a driving force for peace, civic-mindedness, and peaceful coexistence. "Our duty as civil society is to build a peaceful climate for the well-being of citizens," said Jean-Marc Kouamé, national coordinator of WANEP-Côte d'Ivoire, a signatory of the document.
Reaffirming its commitment, WANEP-Côte d'Ivoire declares its readiness to engage in any mediation, dialogue, or conflict prevention efforts. The organization concludes with a vibrant call to prioritize the nation's best interests over any partisan differences.
"Let us work together for a peaceful, united and prosperous Ivory Coast," the press release insists.
