Législatives 2025 : détenu à la MACA, Bredoumy Soumaïla Traoré réélu député
Despite his detention at the Abidjan Detention and Correction Center (MACA) , Kouassi Bredoumy Soumaïla Traoré , spokesperson for the PDCI-RDA , was re-elected deputy following the legislative elections of December 27, 2025 , according to the provisional results communicated by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) .
The leading figure in the main opposition party was a candidate in his usual electoral district. His election, which occurred while he was facing ongoing legal proceedings, has sparked strong reactions on the national political scene .
Although arrested and held in pretrial detention since late November 2025, Kouassi Bredoumy Soumaïla Traoré had not been declared ineligible at the time of the candidate filing deadline. In accordance with Ivorian electoral law, his candidacy was therefore validated by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI).
During the campaign, the PDCI-RDA continued to mobilize on the ground in its name, repeatedly denouncing a politically motivated judicial procedure , which the authorities refute.
