Législatives 2025 : Yasmina Ouégnin annonce qu’elle ne sera pas candidate à Cocody

The outgoing MP for Cocody, Yasmina Ouégnin , announced this Wednesday, November 12, 2025, that she will not be a candidate in the legislative elections scheduled for next December .

In a statement addressed to her fellow citizens, the elected representative from the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI-RDA) explained that she made this decision "after careful consideration." She clarified that she did not respond to the party's call when it came to "submitting her candidacy for the nomination."

"My decision not to seek a fourth term as a Member of Parliament may surprise more than one person, but it was made consciously," she said.

First elected in 2011, Yasmina Ouégnin is thus ending more than a decade of parliamentary service , during which she says she "represented the people of Cocody with joy and passion." She emphasizes, however, that her withdrawal from the upcoming legislative elections does not signify a disengagement from politics .

"Not taking part in the next legislative elections is not a renunciation, but a transformation of my priesthood. This commitment to you and by your side does not weaken; it simply changes form," she added.

The MP also reaffirmed her loyalty to the PDCI-RDA , while offering her encouragement to the party's future candidates:

"I urge all PDCI-RDA activists and supporters to mobilize massively around our various candidacies to guarantee as many victories as possible."

This announcement comes on the very day of the closing of the deadline for submitting candidacies for the legislative elections, while the official list of the PDCI-RDA has not yet been made public.
