Mort d'un manifestant du Front commun à Daloa : les circonstances d'un décès après une interpellation

The public prosecutor at the Daloa Court of First Instance, Moussa Touré, has released details of the death of a Common Front protester on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

The incident occurred after Common Front activists blocked the Daloa-Issia road near the villages of Bla and Tchébléguhé at around 4 a.m. Following this action, the gendarmerie intervened to disperse the gathering and restore traffic flow, arresting nine people.

Among those arrested was Kprohi Marc Géraude, a 34-year-old Ivorian.

According to a statement from Prosecutor Touré, Kprohi Marc Géraude allegedly fell during a chase with the gendarmes. While he was being questioned at the Daloa gendarmerie brigade, his health showed signs of distress, with the prosecutor reporting that he "was short of breath."

Faced with his worsening condition, the gendarmes decided to evacuate him to the Daloa Regional Hospital Center (CHR). Unfortunately, Kprohi Marc Géraude succumbed during his transfer to the hospital.

This tragedy comes amidst national political tensions. Since October 11, 2025, demonstrations have been taking place across Ivory Coast in response to calls for public marches launched by the Common Front. These gatherings have resulted in more than 700 arrests by law enforcement.
