Pas de prisonniers politiques selon Amadou Coulibaly
The Ivorian government spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, reiterated the executive branch's position during the last Council of Ministers meeting: there are no political prisoners in Côte d'Ivoire. Responding to criticism from the opposition, the minister clarified that those detained are being prosecuted for common law offenses .
He specifically listed acts of vandalism, destruction of public property (buses, vehicles), and serious security threats, such as attempted attacks on gas plants. According to the minister, these cases fall exclusively under the jurisdiction of the criminal justice system and not a matter of political opinion. As for potential releases, he deferred to standard legal procedures, such as parole.
