Conflit foncier à Kouto : La sécurité renforcée après les affrontements avec Samorossoba
A major security operation has been deployed in the commune of Kouto following the violent clashes of Sunday, June 21, 2026. The objective of the authorities is clear: to stifle any risk of recurrence and to protect the inhabitants of the two localities.
The conflict, which has been simmering for several years, has reignited over a highly strategic agricultural plot: a rice-growing plain of approximately 1,000 hectares located on the banks of the Bagoué River. Alerted from the outset of the crisis by the administrative authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) quickly deployed to the area to intervene between the two communities.
The intervention of the security forces dispersed the combatants and secured the site. The medical report indicates approximately twenty injured , all male.
Health update: The vast majority of victims have been able to return home after receiving treatment at the Kouto hospital. Only one injured person, more seriously, had to be transferred to a specialized medical facility.
To freeze the situation and anticipate possible nighttime reprisals, strict measures have been activated:
Although the situation is now considered "under control" by law enforcement, a return to lasting peace now depends on dialogue.
The prefect of the Kouto department, Gnamou Angoran Pierre , is actively conducting awareness campaigns in the field. Holding numerous meetings with local dignitaries and community leaders in Kouto and Samorossoba, the administrative authorities are calling for calm. The population is strongly urged to refrain from entering the disputed area and to fully respect the court's decision in resolving this land dispute.
