Drame évité à Cocody : Deux immeubles en construction s'effondrent à Faya

Early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026, residents of the Cocody Faya neighborhood discovered the damage: two semi-detached, five-story buildings, still under construction, had completely collapsed. The disaster occurred in the immediate vicinity of the Saint-Paul des Lauriers Catholic Church. Fortunately, no lives were lost, bringing immense relief to the neighborhood.
Despite no injuries in Faya, the trauma remains profound for Abidjan residents. This incident comes just three days after the horrific tragedy in Koumassi Soweto, where a building fire claimed the lives of eight people, whose bodies were recovered from the rubble. Faced with this resurgence of violence, concerns are growing regarding safety and building standards in the economic capital.
