The manhunt lasted several months. It ended this Monday, February 2, 2026 , in Koumassi , in the Remblais district. Wanted since July 2025, KD , alias "Djakis," described as an influential member of the Tondeni gang, was arrested by police forces from the 36th arrondissement police station .

It was just after 1 p.m. when police officers, involved in Operation Sparrowhawk 11 , were conducting a routine patrol near the Gabriel Dadié Primary School. In this regularly monitored area, an individual caught the officers' attention. Suspicious behavior, a moment of hesitation… then flight.

The reaction was immediate. The perimeter was already secured, and the escape attempt was quickly thwarted. A few streets away, the man was surrounded and apprehended without major resistance or incident.

Taken to the police station, his identity was formally established: KD, born in 2003 in Koumassi , unemployed, residing in the Remblais neighborhood. A name well known to the police. According to investigators, he is mentioned in several complaints and identified as the second-in-command of the Tondeni gang , a group notorious for repeated violence, knife attacks, robberies, and vigilante raids in the district.

As a reminder, the gang's main leaders, including Tondeni and his deputy "Abobolais," were brought to justice in July 2025. Since then, "Djakis" was considered the last man on the run. Thinking he could evade capture, he had retreated to Boundiali before discreetly returning to Abidjan.

When questioned by investigators, the accused did not deny the facts. He admitted his membership in the gang and confirmed his role in the organization.

The information was immediately transmitted to the police hierarchy and to the Court of First Instance of Abidjan-Plateau . On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor, KD, alias “Djakis”, was placed in custody , in accordance with the applicable procedure.

With this arrest, the flight of the last active member of the Tondeni gang officially comes to an end.
