Sécurité nationale : Les forces de police ivoiriennes s'arment contre la fraude à l'identité

In a context of increasingly sophisticated forgery methods, Côte d'Ivoire is strengthening its security apparatus. From February 9 to 13, 2026 , several police units in the north and center of the country underwent intensive training dedicated to combating document and identity fraud.

A strategic partnership for secure borders

This initiative is the result of close collaboration between:

  1. The Ministry of the Interior and Security (Ivory Coast).
  2. The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), via the “Border Management” project.
  3. The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic , which provides the financial support.

Technical and operational reinforcement

The sessions, led by experts from the Bureau for Combating Documentary Fraud (BFD) attached to the DST, enabled agents to improve their techniques in several key areas:

  1. Detection of falsifications and identification of alterations.
  2. Mastery of the security features of travel documents.
  3. In-depth analysis through practical field exercises.
"This initiative concretely strengthens the operational effectiveness of our services in the face of increasingly sophisticated fraud methods." — Chief Commissioner Simon Digbeu , Head of Police for the Bouaké District.

Deployment of new equipment

To translate this training into concrete results, the session concluded with the handover of 30 portable analysis devices . This state-of-the-art equipment will allow police stations in Bouaké, Ferkessédougou, Niakara, Kouto, Boundiali, Katiola, Sakassou, Béoumi, and Botro to conduct more reliable and rigorous identity checks.

According to Emile Kra, representative of the ICMPD, this program is part of a long-term commitment to support Côte d'Ivoire in securing its migration governance.
