Côte d’Ivoire : Objectif 50 % d’allaitement exclusif d’ici 2027, les médias en première ligne
The Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson , Mr. Amadou Coulibaly (AM's) , presided this Friday, November 14, 2025, over a capacity-building seminar for media actors on breastfeeding and the National Multisectoral Nutrition Plan (PNMN) 2024-2027 .
In her address, Ms. Myss Belmonde Dogo , Minister of National Cohesion, Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, representing the Minister, stressed the importance of this training, which aims to raise awareness and educate the population on the nutrition of babies, wet nurses and children , thus confirming the key role of the media in promoting breastfeeding.
Minister Coulibaly also invited the media to designate “breastfeeding focal points” in order to ensure continuous and professional coverage of these essential topics for infant health.
For their part, UNICEF and CONANUt stressed the crucial role of breastfeeding as the first line of defense for children , calling for a collective commitment to sustainably combat malnutrition.
With a current rate of 25.3% exclusive breastfeeding , Côte d'Ivoire aims to reach 50% by 2027 , thanks to the National Breastfeeding Acceleration Plan . This initiative illustrates the government's commitment to mobilizing all institutional stakeholders, partners, and the media to improve the health of Ivorian children.
