Organized by the Ivorian Society of Pediatric Surgery (SICUP) under the leadership of Professor Bertin Kouamé, this event marks a crucial step for improving maternal and neonatal health in Côte d'Ivoire.
Following a successful first edition in Aboisso in 2025, this session brings together 31 healthcare professionals (gynecologists, radiologists, and midwives) from various regions of the country. The objective is clear: to refine technical skills for the early detection of fetal malformations.
The training program is based on exceptional supervision:
Supported by the mayor of Yamoussoukro, Kouassi Kouamé Patrice, the training program is being rolled out across two strategic sites:
Social impact: Alongside the training, free obstetric ultrasounds are offered to pregnant women followed at the CHR during the five days of the workshop.
SICUP's ambition extends beyond the seminar. Professor Bertin Kouamé took the opportunity to advocate for the sustainable equipping of local facilities, particularly through the acquisition of a 4D ultrasound scanner estimated at 40 million FCFA .
The ultimate goal is to transform the Yamoussoukro Regional Hospital into a leading center for prenatal diagnosis . This training and equipment model is intended to be replicated throughout the country to drastically reduce neonatal mortality related to congenital anomalies.
