The Ivorian government is accelerating the modernization of its social system. During the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, three financing agreements totaling 125 billion CFA francs were officially adopted.

This massive envelope is entirely dedicated to phase 2 of the Multi-phase Approach Programme for Health, Nutrition and Early Childhood Development .

Details of the funding

Concluded on May 14, 2026 with the International Development Association (IDA), these agreements are divided into two major components:

1. Two donations totaling $25 million (approximately 14 billion FCFA ).
2. A loan of 169.5 million euros (a little over 111 billion FCFA ).

The main priorities of Phase 2

According to government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, these funds will be used to implement the strategic projects of the Health Pact , initiated to transform the Ivorian healthcare system. Priority actions will primarily target women, children, and the most vulnerable populations through:

1. Strengthening Universal Health Coverage: Consolidating Universal Health Coverage to guarantee sustainable and equitable access to care.
2. Staff training: Build a new branch of the National Institute for Health Worker Training (INFAS) to increase the number of qualified professionals in the field.
3. Medical logistics: Optimizing the availability of essential health products by improving their acquisition, as well as transport and storage capacities.
4. Nutrition and community awakening: Intensifying the fight against malnutrition and promoting early stimulation and learning activities for young children.

The ultimate goal: To accelerate the development of human capital in Ivory Coast by ensuring quality medical and nutritional care throughout the national territory.
