Abidjan – Riviera : Le Ministère sauve un enfant vulnérable abandonné dans la rue

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025 , at approximately 11:00 PM, a swift and coordinated operation by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Children (MFFE) brought a highly vulnerable child to safety in the Riviera district. The alert was triggered after an internet user posted on the "Police Secours" platform, reporting the presence of a child left unattended in the streets.

Informed in real time, Minister Nasseneba Touré immediately dispatched a joint team composed of social workers and law enforcement officers. The intervention took place at the "Feu de la Tendresse" center, where the child had been seen a few hours earlier.

A deaf-mute child abandoned and exposed to the dangers of the street

The child, aged approximately 11 to 12 and suffering from a hearing and speech impairment (deaf-mute), was living on the streets without any family support. Exposed to risks of exploitation, violence, and insecurity, he was immediately taken into care by the ministry's teams.

He was taken to the Listening and Guidance Office in Yopougon (Les Toits Rouges), where he received medical care, a psychological evaluation and initial emergency support.

Enhanced monitoring to guarantee protection and stability

The MFFE placed the child under the Vulnerable Child and Adolescent Protection Program , a system that ensures:

-personalized medical and psychosocial support ,

-a thorough analysis of his essential needs,

-safe and appropriate care.

At the same time, a family identification procedure has been launched in order to find his parents or a legal guardian, an essential condition for the child's reconstruction and stability.

A thorough investigation will determine the circumstances of its abandonment and will establish the necessary protection and accountability measures.

A reaffirmed commitment to child protection

Minister Nasseneba Touré commended the responsiveness and professionalism of the teams involved. She also called on citizens to remain vigilant and supportive in the face of situations involving children in danger.

She recalled that child protection remains at the heart of the social vision of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara , President of the Republic, determined that "no child should be left behind" .
