The Minister of Water, Sanitation, and Public Health, Amédé Kouakou Koffi , has taken another step in the fight for water. This Monday, March 23, 2026, he convened the SODECI ( Senegal's water utility) management team at its Riviera Palmeraie supervision center. The objective is clear: to transform surplus production into real access for households.

The paradox of abundance

The minister's observation is striking: Ivory Coast produces enough water, but the taps sometimes remain dry.

1. Abidjan: More than $1,000,000 m³ produced per day.
2. Domestic: Approximately $800,000 m³ produced per day.

The problem: Only half of this volume actually reaches consumers. For Amédé Kouakou, the challenge is no longer the resource itself, but the connection . The ministry is preparing to submit a massive pipeline expansion plan to the government to address this distribution shortfall.

Solutions for critical areas

The minister also addressed the points of friction that disrupt the daily lives of Ivorians:

1. Energy: Power outages affecting the pumps are being dealt with by the relevant services.
2. Dry season: For fragile localities like Bocanda , dependent on rivers or boreholes, security measures are planned to avoid cyclical shortages.
