Côte d’Ivoire : Amnesty International évoque la détention de femmes enceintes après les manifestations d’octobre 2025
The human rights NGO Amnesty International recently published a statement on the situation of several people arrested following the October 2025 protests in Abidjan.
According to the organization, several months after these events, dozens of people remain in detention . The NGO indicates that some of those arrested did not participate in the demonstrations and were apprehended while near the gathering places.
The report also mentions that several detainees were tried in proceedings that the organization describes as "unfair," claiming that some did not have access to legal counsel or the opportunity to consult with their relatives.
Furthermore, Amnesty International reports that pregnant women are among those currently detained at the Abidjan Penitentiary Center. The NGO indicates that their situation raises particular concerns, especially given their state of health.
These arrests are linked to the demonstrations that took place in several areas of Abidjan in the lead-up to the 2025 presidential election in Ivory Coast.
