Daloa : Un opérateur économique sacrifie 6 tonnes de marchandises pour la santé publique
In a rare act of integrity, a trader in the Haut-Sassandra region chose transparency over profit. On Thursday, April 9, 2026, under the supervision of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Commerce, six tons of expired products were incinerated at the Zepteguhé site, on the Daloa-Abidjan road.
Unlike the usual seizures carried out during unannounced inspections, this operation was the result of a voluntary action . Noting that its stock – consisting mainly of drinks, sweets and yogurts – had expired, the business operator itself requested the intervention of the authorities to remove it from the commercial circuit.
“I commend the greatness and sincerity of this man. A bona fide operator who, faced with the potential danger to the population, chose honesty,” declared Beda N’cho Jean , regional director of Commerce, with enthusiasm.
The cremation ceremony took place in the presence of administrative, judicial, and traditional authorities. Mrs. Wallo Rachel Zoh, wife of Boliga , sub-prefect of Daloa, presided over the event, emphasizing the exceptional nature of this act.
This massive destruction is not merely a technical act; it sends a powerful message to the entire commercial sector. In a context where the temptation to sell off expired stock is real, this operator's example proves that ethical business practices are possible in Côte d'Ivoire.
The objectives of the local authorities are clear:
This act of "health citizenship" is now cited as an example, with the hope that it will inspire other operators across the national territory to guarantee safe consumption for all.
