On the occasion of the official celebration of Mother's Day, the First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire, Dominique Ouattara , visited Aboisso on Saturday, May 30, 2026. She deployed significant resources by granting donations worth a total of 616 million CFA francs to the women of the Sud-Comoé region, a strong gesture intended to boost their economic empowerment and well-being.

This important ceremony, initiated by the president of the South-Comoé Regional Council, Eugène Aka Aouélé , honored several women's groups and associations through massive material and financial aid.

Extensive material and financial support

The donation basket, which is particularly diverse, directly targets the daily lives and productivity of the beneficiaries:

  1. Professional & agricultural equipment: Shredders, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, hair dryers, coolers and boots.
  2. Health & Logistics: State-of-the-art medical equipment and refrigerators.
  3. Youth support: Complete sports kits (jerseys and balls).
  4. Direct financing: Handing over of support checks via the Ivory Coast Women's Support Fund ( FAFCI ).
"The objective is clear: to sustainably improve the living conditions of these women and secure their integration into the local economic fabric."

A call for responsibility and unanimous tributes

Dominique Ouattara used this platform to reaffirm her unwavering commitment to women's rights. However, she urged the beneficiaries to demonstrate rigor and responsibility in managing these new resources in order to maximize their impact on their respective communities.

The impact of the event was praised by several prominent figures:

  1. Eugène Aka Aouélé paid tribute to the First Lady's steadfastness.
  2. Nassénéba Touré (Minister of Women, Family and Children) highlighted the social impact of these actions throughout the national territory.
  3. Louise Somian , spokesperson for the women of the region, warmly conveyed the gratitude of the beneficiaries for this breath of financial and material lifeline.

A celebration under the banner of unity

Beyond the numbers, the event made a lasting impression due to its symbolic and festive nature. The ceremony took place in a warm atmosphere, punctuated by traditional songs and dances, and saw the remarkable participation of former First Ladies, Henriette Konan Bédié and Simone Ehivet Gbagbo , united to celebrate the mothers of Sud-Comoé.
