Gaoussou Touré officiellement investi Médiateur de la République
A new era has begun for the mediation institution in Côte d'Ivoire. On Friday, April 10, 2026 , Gaoussou Touré officially assumed his duties as Mediator of the Republic. The handover ceremony, presided over by Gilbert Kafana Koné, marked the transition between the outgoing mediator, Adama Toungara , and his successor in an atmosphere of solemnity and republican fraternity.
Upon handing over the reins, Adama Toungara expressed his profound gratitude to the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara , for the trust placed in him during his tenure. He warmly thanked his colleagues, urging them to offer the new Mediator the same dedication and professional rigor they had demonstrated alongside him.
The new Ombudsman, aware of the importance of his mission, has placed his mandate under the banner of efficiency and dialogue. In his address, Gaoussou Touré outlined his priority areas:
“I am aware of the magnitude of the responsibility that rests upon me. My actions will aim to consolidate social peace and ensure that the institution remains a credible recourse for every Ivorian,” he stated.
Minister Gilbert Kafana Koné, representing the executive branch, emphasized that this institution remains a crucial pillar for conflict prevention and the consolidation of national stability. He encouraged Gaoussou Touré to be innovative in order to bring the administration closer to the people.
In summary: This smooth transition confirms the Ivorian state's commitment to maintaining a strong mediation institution capable of guaranteeing social harmony and active listening at the highest levels of the nation.
